On the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, members of the FBI Tampa Field Office, led by Special Agent in Charge Crawford, joined members of the FBI Citizens Academy community for a 9/11 Memorial Run and Walk honoring the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and the enduring spirit of service and unity that followed one of the most consequential days in our nation’s history.

Participants gathered at the FBI Tampa Field Office early in the morning before assembling for a commemorative flag photo. Shortly afterward, the group began the memorial run and walk, marking a quarter-century since the attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 lives and forever changed the nation.

The 25th anniversary provided a particularly meaningful opportunity for reflection. Participants honored the victims of September 11, the first responders who demonstrated extraordinary courage, and the law enforcement, intelligence, military, and public safety professionals whose service continues to protect communities across the country.

The memorial event also reflected the strong partnership between the FBI Tampa Field Office and members of the Citizens Academy community. By participating together, FBI personnel and Citizens Academy alumni demonstrated a shared commitment to remembrance, service, public safety, and community engagement.

Following the run and walk, participants returned to the Tampa Field Office for breakfast and fellowship. The gathering provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships while reflecting on the importance of carrying forward the lessons of September 11 — unity, resilience, service, and a commitment to protecting others.

As the nation marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, the FBI Tampa Citizens Academy Alumni Association remains committed to honoring those who serve, supporting the FBI’s mission, strengthening relationships between law enforcement and the community, and promoting continued civic engagement.
